COURSE DETAILS

Earn 1 CE (CAMFT CE #59405 )

Description:

Our reproductive story is taught implicitly and explicitly throughout life: it includes cultural, spiritual and social expectations of how a family is built and what is expected of parents. Reproductive trauma, including infertility and pregnancy loss, can rupture and permanently change this story. Based on trauma-informed and grief-conscious research, we know there is power in knowing your own reproductive story and defining your reproductive identity as providers - this allows providers to empower clients to define their own story and identity. Ultimately this session will provide a template for reflecting on your story and identity and make space for the chasm between expectations and reality so many individuals face throughout their reproductive years.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to name 2 components of a reproductive story.
  2. Participants will be able to provide 2 examples that illustrate the difference between expectations and realities.
  3. Participants will be able to explain three disruptions to the reproductive story.
