OUR HISTORY

CAMFT’s rich history started when five visionary therapists filed Articles of Incorporation with the California Secretary of State on February 26, 1964. CAMFT has since been served by 45 different Presidents and dozens of Board members and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to create a strong association for marriage and family therapists.

OC CAMFT was one of the first chapters, chartered in 1965. OC CAMFT represents a diverse membership of therapists located in Orange County and serves to provide support, networking, and educational opportunities to its constituents.

The objectives and purposes of the Orange County Chapter of CAMFT shall be to advance marriage and family therapy as an art, a science and a mental health profession, and to assist CAMFT in furthering its objectives on a local level. The Chapter may pursue other objectives and purposes that are in the best interests of CAMFT, its members and the members of this Chapter and that are not in conflict with CAMFT's Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws or Ethical Standards for Marriage and Family Therapists. The Chapter shall provide an educationally, emotionally, and professionally supportive atmosphere for its members to grow individually and as a group.
