Event Details
Join Sergio Brilhante for a welcoming introduction to Argentine tango, an hour of connection, movement, and fun. Learn basic steps and explore how leading and following involve listening, responding, and finding a shared rhythm.
Tango emerged in late 19th-century Argentina and Uruguay, shaped by African, European, and local cultural traditions. It is an improvisational partner dance that invites dancers to create each movement together through connection and mutual responsiveness.
Therapists may recognize tango as the dance metaphor behind Sue Johnson’s EFT Tango in Emotionally Focused Therapy. This class offers an opportunity to explore attunement through movement and practice finding your rhythm without "stepping on each other’s toes." Pun intended!
